BOOK REVIEW - THE STORM AND A TREE HOUSE

Back again with a review of a kids story book , THE STORM . This is a story about a family building a tree house for their children and friends of them and the effects of a heavy storm . This books will help kids to understand the meaning of storm and how does it affect us . My daughter enjoyed reading this book , wish to build her own tree house and furbish it for her and her friends like the kids in the story . 



When had a wonderful spring break in Manchester last week . But , the weather was not too good for moving with kids around , it was rainy all through the morning and cool winds in the evening . But , as our plan we visted few places inspite of the bad weather . My lil one loves holding umbrella and walk in the rain . She have a craze for patterns in the umbrella and wish to have all the shades . After reading this book ,  she was saying 'Amma ,storm storm !!! , my umbrella is flying !!! Heavy showers !!!!!! Ices all over !!!! ' . Isn't it lovely to hear her words , the impact of good book ?........we really had a fun . Back home , crafted a tree house .



THINGS REQUIRED : 


Tissue holder
Leaf pictures from magazines
Flower Stickers
Building blocks .


STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED :


1) Cut the holder n number of times to strips (show branches) at one end .
2) Fold each strip gently .
3) Glue leaf pictures to it with flowers in it.
4) Build a house with blocks .
5) Tree house is ready to play with .

BOOK REVIEW - THE NEW HOUSE AND A COLLAGE .

Hurray !! Spring Break !!!!!! Planned our trips ....... Got few books to have a wonderful time reading and crafting . We read this wonderful book , The New House . The story is about a family moving to their new house . It tells about how they shifted things and arranged their new house . My daughter really enjoyed reading this book and related her experience when we shifted to our new flat . How nice to see her relating the story to her knowledge !!! .


Then , we got into action for our new house collage .



STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED :

1) My lil one drew shapes to make a house and cut them off from the old magazine.
2) Glue it to a chart/paper.
3) Cut grass pictures/leaf pictures to make tree and lawn.

ORIGAMI - TULIP

A Simple Tulip from my daughter for Shruthi's Origami Crafts Challenge .This craft is from my daughter's art  book .







STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED ;



1) Take a square piece of paper .
2) Make a centre crease and fold .
3) Make a centre crease and unfold.
4) Middle zone fold .
5) Glue a green stem in the bottom.

This hearty collage is done for the front cover of my daughter's Special Book . This depicts of her colouful memories with her favourite fruits , flowers , shapes and butterflies and many more lovable moments . We designed a caption as ' My Special Book of lovable heartfelt memories ' .

Happy to make this bookmark for World Book day on March 1 , celebrated in my daughter's school .

We had fun collecting words from magazines and frame words . Made a small book from price tags .

GINGER BREAD MAN - CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENT


THINGS REQUIRED :

Brown paper / Craft paper
Scissors
Kids colour bindhi's
Buttons
Satin ribbons
Glue

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED:

1) Fold paper in concertina style as shown .


2) Draw gingerbread man on one side .
3) Cut out the figure draw . Open the paper , you will get shape as shown.

4) Then colour the man .








5) Glue a satin ribbon and hang it in your tree .

BOUQUET OF HANDPRINTS FLOWERS

We wished to give a different gift for our daughter's birthday and decided to give a handmade one . This a bouquet made for her with her handprints .


MATERIALS REQUIRED :

Chart Paper - 1
Green colour paper - 2
Straws - few
Ribbon .

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED :

1) Handprints of my daughter .



2 ) Leaf cut out from colour paper .



3) Fold each hand to the end of the straw with leaf and staple it .[



4 ) Make similar flowers and finally tie them together to make a bouquet . Isn't it a special gift for my duaghter ?...........

Hope your kids too will enjoy it .

MY DAUGHTER'S GIFT : A SIMPLE BIRTHDAY CARD FOR HER FATHER'S BIRTHDAY .





This card was made for my hubby's birthday by my daughter , with kids handprints using turmeric paste .

THINGS REQUIRED :

Chart Paper
Turmeric powder paste

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED :

Fold chart paper as you per your preferred designs . We folded it in concertina style.Decorate it .

ELEPHANT COLLAGE

We did this craft for my daughter as a part of her Craft work in school.



THINGS REQUIRED :

Paper plate - 1
Siver colour papers - 5
Black crepe papers - 5
Chart paper - 1
Glue

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED :

1) Take the plate and cover it with a silver colour paper .Allow it to dry .


2) Draw big ears and trunk in the silver paper and cut it out .


3) Then , glue it to the chart paper .



4) Draw an elephant in the chart paper and help your kids to glue its parts with it.
5) Make eyes using white chart paper .

PAPER BOX

Sending this to shruti's Arsty-Craftsy Challenge,Apr 2011 - Earth day.


MATERIALS NEEDED :

Old newspapers
Glue
Waste invitation cards/Chart paper

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED :

1) Tear a page in two halves . Fold it and tear it again to get rectangle or square shape.
2) Roll it as shown and glue it in the end.

3) Make a rectangle shape out of waste cards , to form the base for the box.
4) Make rolls of paper as per requirement and glue to the card to form the box.Glue one roll over the other.
5) Box is ready to store clips/safety pins/Visiting cards .

PAPER DUCK MASK

This is my daughter's work , on seeing the following mask .






MATERIALS REQUIRED :

Paper Plate - 1
Black and Pink colour paper glue

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED :

1) Cut a small circle shape from pink paper . Fold it in the center . Glue the bottom part to the plate . Leave the top part open to form the mouth.

2) Make eyes out of black paper . Then glue white themocol ball to it .

3) Make hairs with black paper.

4) Put holes to tie the strings . Mask is ready .

MATERIALS NEEDED :

Green and Brown colour Velvet Paper .
Family members photographs .

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED :

1 ) Make tree out of velvet paper .
2) Glue the photographs of paternal and maternal family members for your kid.

TISSUE PAPER RANGOLI ON WALLS

When Shruti announced Artsy - Craftsy Challenge - Tissue Paper, this was the first craft that came in mind . This is a bit time consuming one and need a lot of patience .


MATERIALS REQUIRED :


Tissue paper - 1
Colour gift wrapper and Chart paper.


STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED :

1) Fold the tissue paper in the centre to form a rectangle and then fold it again in the centre to form a square .

2) Cut your preferred shapes on the folded sides of the square leaving a space between each and every shape using the scissors .

3) Then fold the square to form a triangle and repeat step 2 .

4) Then , carefully open the folds , you would have developed a lovely design .

5) Glue the tissue paper to a coloured paper and stick them to a chart paper to have a thick background .

6) You can either frame it or glue to your walls during parties or form a background for god idols while making thorams/decorations for ganesh pooja,krishna jeyanthi , Varalakshmi viratham etc .

Note : If you cannot follow these steps , please let me know . I will post photos for each and every step . This time , i forget to click the pictures .

SMILEY DOLL KEY CHAIN

My daughter loves to have smiley balls or key chain.Yesterday, i gave her a smiley key chain . She wished to have a smiley doll . So , we finally tried our best to make it appealing .

MATERIALS REQUIRED :

1) Crepe papers and Tissue Paper .
2) Glue
3) Smiley key chain.
4) Paper cup.

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED :

1) Glue crepe papers of your choice colours to the cup to make a dress for smiley .



2) Take a waste thick paper . Trace out the bottom circle shape of the cup in it . Then , draw a oval shape around the circle .Cut the circle out first from the oval shape and then oval shape from the paper.

3) Just fit the shape as shown . Folding the extended portion in the centre to form hands .Then , glue crepe papers to it.



4) Glue the smiley to the cup . Take a white tissue paper , cut it into half and fold it to form a small rectangle shape . Make a hole in the centre for the chain and stick it to the head . follow the same step to stick hair in the back of the head .Once it gets dried , cut the tissue paper to for hair for the smiley .


5) Stick a small satin ribbon on both sides for the smiley . Doll is ready .

CHRISTMAS TREE

Finally , i managed to get these pictures from my memory card though my camera is still not working . My lil one and myself made this Simple and Quick Christmas tree for Christmas 2010 .

MATERIALS REQUIRED :

1) Kids Party Caps .
2) Green Colour Crepe paper .

3) Kids plastic flower earings and some decorative kundan pieces.
4) A Star sticker.
5) Glue

STEPS TO BE FOLLOWED :

1 ) I chose the green cap .




2) Glue the crepe paper over the cap in this way . This way shows alternate shades of green .



3) Then , decorate the tree with the kids plastic flower studs and decorative pieces . With a golden star in the top .
